Suladan

Largely finished my Suladan (foot and mounted versions). Now just need to finish my Bo'sun and all of the heroes for the upcoming battle will have been painted.

The Betrayer

As promised, here are a couple of pictures of The Betrayer. Not the best quality I'm afraid, couldn't seem to get the camera to focus on the right spot (I'm sure the issue lies with the cameraman, rather than the camera).

The Army of The Serpent King is on the march

Got the army list for the upcoming battle, should be interesting.

The Betrayer
12x Watchers of Karna

Suladan /w Horse
12x Serpent Riders

Corsair Bo'sun
6x Corsairs of Umbar /w Shield
6x Corsair Reavers

I've got six Haradrim Raiders to use for Serpent Riders, not quite sure what to use for the other six, maybe some Easterling Kataphracts. I do have corsairs with shields (four are even painted) though reavers are another question. I painted The Betrayer last night (pictures to follow hopefully sometime tonight) and will try to get Suladan and the Bo'sun done before the battle (and two more shield corsairs if time allows). Have not seen corsairs in action yet, so this should be fun. I've heard that Reavers are supposedly one of the "hot" units these days, so we'll see if they are all that they are cracked up to be.

Battle shall be joined...

Got a tentative date set for our next battle, and a point value and scenario selected. It will be a 650pt battle playing the LoME "To Kill a King" scenario, albeit using the Warband system.
I'll be using good this time around, and am thinking of using a Numenorean army. Toward that end, I finished painting my Numenorean Archers yesterday and am starting on my spearmen. The last time I used Numenor (22Feb12) I had to use a lot of proxies and unpainted minis to fill out my army. While I don't have a problem with this, I do prefer to use the "proper" mini if I have them available, and painted is of course better yet. I have since managed to expand my Numenoreans to 12 bows, 12 spears and probably 20 or so sword & shield warriors, as well as my Captain of Numenor and Isildur and Elendil. Anyway, here is my tentative army list:

Warband 1:
Elendil /w Horse & Shield
6 Warriors of Numenor /w Shields
6 Warriors of Numenor /w Spears & Shields

Warband 2:
Isildur /w Horse & Shield

6 Warriors of Numenor /w Shields
6 Warriors of Numenor /w Spears & Shields

Warband 3:
Anarmegil (Captain of Numenor) /w Heavy Armor
12 Warriors of Numenor /w Bows

650pts, 39 models, 8 might

Tromp Tromp Tromp...

Here are some pictures of my Great Beast of Gorgoroth that I got for my birthday last month. The beast and battle platform are largely done, with a few touch-ups/finishing touches to do, and I haven't started on the orc crewmen yet, but I'm pretty happy with it so far :)

Elendil & Isildur

I finally got around to painting my Isildur Foot & Mounted models to go along with my painted Elendil. Also, I finished my conversion project for a mounted Elendil model. I took an extra mounted "Aragorn, King Elessar" model, swapped the heads from a spare Elendil model, as well as removing the wing shaped thigh armor (if that is the correct term?) and gluing them onto the Elessar model. It isn't an exact match of course, (missing the massive shoulder plates and the design of the chest armor is different, among other things) but I figure it is close enough for my purposes (and after all, they are related, and it is the same sword ;) ) As for the headless Elendil model, I glued a Warrior of Minas Tirith's head onto his body and used green stuff to smooth out the spots where the armor plates I cut off were. Borrowing an idea from BilboOfTheWhiteTower, I plan to use him as a Knight of the White Tower, since I have the old Minas Tirith Command box set (with hornblower, captain and banner bearer) and didn't feel like spending $40 for one model. Hope you enjoy :)

Goblins and Marauder

Finally finished painting some more Moria Goblins (4 shields, 4 spears, 4 bows). Not a real big fan of painting the goblins for whatever reason. I think it is the small(er) size to try painting the faces (which I'm not that great at anyway). Everything else is relatively simple. Also, painted my Warg Marauder. Still not sold on Finecast, but it turned out ok I think. This one had a bubble pocket on the right side of the lead, armored goblins face which took out most of the lower helmet visor. The rest of it seemed ok, though the goblin riders seemed a bit "rough" for lack of a better term. I htink this marauder may have been the same one that had been in the store since February when they were released, so maybe they hadn't gotten some of the quality control issues sorted yet, as a few fincast minis I've gotten more recently have been largely ok. Anyway, here are the pics. Hop you enjoy :)
